Ellie toiled as a Reading Specialist in the US public school system for years. After a spell as a college instructor, she is taking her telling on the road. A recent trip to Edinburgh has whetted her appetite for some more travel.

"Ellie Shinham resides in Baltimore, Maryland. A former Reading Specialist in the public schools of New York State, she also holds an English/Language Arts certificate for Grades 7-12. Ellie earned her B.A. in English from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, and an M.S. in Education from the State University at Potsdam, New York. Following doctoral study at the University of Delaware, she joined the faculty of Loyola University Maryland, where she directed the Scholars Literacy Program.

A plethora of venues have hosted Ellie as a teller, from libraries to civic organizations to childcare centers to university classrooms. Her workshops are especially well-received among teachers. Now a full-time storyteller, she is telling stories across the country, and across the world.

Ellie told her first story to a live audience at age 7 in Ms. Wagner's 2nd grade class. She has studied Storytelling with Gail Neary Herman, David Holt and Tim Jennings.
