-"Tell an Tale" - for ASSITEJ India on World Children Theatre day.

-Over the last decade for various "DRAMATIZED STORYTELLING THEATRE EVENTS" - for "Dhumketu', a leading amateur Bengali Theatre group for 60 years, based out of Delhi.

-Regularly conduct story telling sessions for various organisation in New Delhi.

-Regularly conduct 2 - 3 times a week story telling sessions at the leading bookstore in Delhi - OXFORD, Kalkajee, New Delhi.

-Storytelling Therapy sessions conducted while volunteering with Max Hospital, Oncology Department - Pediatric Department

Each story is ingrained with aspects/issues/concerns of life for the child/youth audience age group.

Role plays are conducted based on the story. This helps build strong positive narratives in their own lives.

She knows more than 30 stories - inclusive of World literature,Indian Folklore and Mythology, Historical stories and Current Issues.

Piyali Dasgupta is a behavioural aide, storyteller, palliative care counsellor and writer, for children and young adults.

She aims to fulfill her calling - "TO EMPOWER EVERY CHILD TO BECOME HAPPY AND HELP THEM MANIFEST THEIR UNIQUE POTENTIAL".

Methodology and Approach

She combines Storytelling, Counseling, Narrative Therapy, Reflective Teamwork, Theatre, Dramatization, Art, Music, Toys and Writing etc. as mediums to unleash a child's "unique" potential. She creates learning and growth modules for children through these Pedagogic tools.

Through the Workshop

  • She conducts workshops for children regularly. When a child becomes part of such a life transforming experience through these sessions they develop

As a Storyteller

She believes there are stories in everything. Each story is specially handpicked keeping in mind the cognitive, behavioural, mental and emotional needs of the group. Experiencing and becoming part of a story, lets a child discover and learn about life. It acts as a window and motivates to find "our own self".

As a Palliative Care Counselor

As a "Palliative Care Counselor", she works with children battling life threatening diseases. Through her interactions with a child while he/she is undergoing their treatment, like "Chemo Therapy", she worked to alleviate their emotional, mental and psychological suffering.

In spite of the ailment and pain, the suffering can be removed and there is a "re-orientation of focus" for the child and the parents to the positive aspects of life. This involves enhancing and revealing aspects of their life, like - creative power, skills, passions, improved quality of family life and part taking in leisure activities, irrespective of the ailment.

As a Behavioural Aide

She helps overcome negative emotions like: - "Anger, Fear, Guilt and Shame etc."

This especially entails working with issue like bullying, body image, peer pressure, concentration etc.

About Piyali Dasgupta

She has a diverse and dynamic background, experience and career which spans over 14 years.

She began her career in the Aviation Industry and went on to handle the portfolio of "Customer Care Manager" for the Indian Subcontinent which included operations in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka & Maldives. This gave her global sensibilities and expertise in world business, policy making and implementation, conflict resolution and capacity building.

With that her own intent and passion "To empower each child and young adult to become happy by tapping their own unique and highest potential" led her to integrate new dimensions to her professional repertoire.

She has completed her certification course in Narrative Therapy and Reflective Team work, from Children First Institute, India.

She is a certified "Palliative Care Counselor". She did her course with CANSUPPORT and "The Annual Foundation Course in Palliative Care, with CANSUPPORT, Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital and AIIMS, in 2011. The course is credited with 19 CME hours by the Delhi Medical Group.

She is a certified "Integrated Clinical Behavioural Hypnotherapist" and has completed the certification courses level I and II from California Institute of Hypnosis India, New Delhi.

She has also undertaken several in house courses facilitated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in Amsterdam over the 10 years of her service.

She completed her BA (Honors) in English from Venkateshwara College, Delhi University.

She passed 12th Std. (CBSE) from Air Force Golden Jubilee School in 1996 and ranking "1st" in the class in the Humanities section.

She belongs to a family which is ingrained in Arts and Theatre and has been actively involved in this field. She has done small cameos in the feature films, like "Vicky Donor, 2012" by Shoojit Sircar and "Nisshabd,2005" which won the Best Feature film in Osian's Cinefan Asian Film Festival 2006 /Cop de Coeur Guimet " Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema " France Prix Special Languages'O - Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema " France).
